Where: Ijams Nature Center, 2915 Island Home Ave, Knoxville, TN 37920

As the calendar turns to the holiday season, our minds here at Slow Food Tennessee Valley turn to just one thing: PIE!!! We ask you, what’s better than gathering with friends old & new and eating a plate full of samples of different pies?
HOW IT WORKS: To enter the pie contest, simply bake a pie that includes at least one local ingredient. A homemade crust is not required, but will earn you points with the judges, as will using more than one local ingredient. Prizes will be awarded for best savory and best sweet pie, as chosen by our judges; an audience favorite prize will also be awarded from amongst all pies submitted. Votes for audience favorite are $1 each, and you can vote as many times as you like. To be considered for the contest, pies MUST BE SUBMITTED by 5:30 p.m.
WHO IT BENEFITS: The holidays remind us it’s better to give than to receive, so all proceeds from this year’s pie contest will benefit Nourish Knoxville. Nourish Knoxville works to cultivate relationships between farmers, artisanal producers, and the community through outreach, education, and advocacy; it also strives to build healthy communities by connecting people to local food. Perhaps best known for managing the Market Square Farmers’ Market, Nourish Knoxville also produces an excellent local food guide, and will once again be hosting a Winter Farmers’ Market this year.
THE REST OF THE STORY: As always, Slow Food Tennessee Valley strives for zero waste events, so please bring your own place setting (plate, silverware, napkin, drinking glass). Water will be provided; this is otherwise a BYOB event. Questions? Send us a message thru Facebook or email us at email@example.com
