When: Thursday, June 23rd, 5:30 pm
Where: Alliance Brewing Co., 1130 Sevier Ave, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920
Did you know that millions of tons of “wonky” (aka ugly) vegetables are left unharvested worldwide each year because retailers think people won’t buy them? Or that once purchased, U.S. consumers throw out about 25% of their food and beverages unused?
Food waste is an enormous problem with economic, social, and environmental implications. Please join Slow Food TN Valley for an informal discussion of food waste and what we can do about it on Thursday, June 23rd, at 5:30 pm at Alliance Brewing Co in South Knoxville. We’ll also be awarding a prize for best ugly vegetable, so scour your garden and local farmers’ markets for the wonkiest veg you can find!
Dave Thomasson and the Farm-to-Griddle Crepes food truck will be there serving dinner, and Alliance will have several local beers on tap. So come on out on the 23rd, have a beer (or two) with us, and let’s talk wonky food!
