Pesto Festo Movie: “Big Night”

As part of our 10th anniversary Pesto Festo celebration, you are warmly invited to a free screening of the 1996 movie “Big Night” at Hexagon Brewing Co. on Friday, Sept. 8th from 6-9 pm. Snail of Approval awardee Tootsie Truck will be serving dinner, and a free concert by The Ardent Spirits will follow.

“Big Night” stars Stanley Tucci and Tony Shalhoub as two brothers who emigrate from Italy and open a restaurant. When their authentic Italian food struggles to find an audience in America, they pin their hopes on a fabulous dinner party, their one “big night”, to save their dream.

That’s the plot synopsis, at least. What this movie is really about is family, authenticity, and lots & lots of Italian FOOD! In other words, a perfect movie for Pesto Festo. Also starring Isabella Rossellini, Minnie Driver, Ian Holm, Allison Janney, and a very young Marc Anthony.

There is no charge to attend this movie screening, and Hexagon Brewing is a family-friendly venue. We’re delighted our friends at Tootsie Truck will have dinner available for purchase, and of course Hexagon will be selling its fine array of beers (plus some ciders for you gluten free and/or non-beer folks).

Following the movie, gypsy swing jazz band The Ardent Spirits out of Oklahoma will be performing outside, weather permitting. So why not stick around for a bit (it will be Friday night, after all) and get your swing jazz groove on?
