Once again, our annual farm-to-table dinner was a hit! Pesto Festo 2014 was held at Century Harvest Farm in Greenback, TN and featured courses created by chefs Dustin Busby and Joe Bliffen of the Hoof Farm Fresh Food Truck. The four course meal consisted of homemade pates and spreads, late summer potato salad, a poultry and vegetarian entree, and lastly sweet potato cake bites served with Cruz farm ice cream! Our guests enjoyed participating in a pesto contest, hay ride, silent auction, and kid activities for the little ones. What a fantastic way to bring the summer growing season to a close.
In addition to an evening filled with good food and company, we also unveiled our Snail of Approval award. The Snail of Approval is awarded to businesses and restaurants that are doing an exemplary job of promoting quality, authenticity, and sustainability by embracing the Slow Food principles of good, clean, and fair food. Congratulations to Old City Java and Hoof Food Truck for being pioneers of sustainable, farm-to-table food service.
We would like to thank ALL of our hard working volunteers for behind the scenes work of ticket sales and day of preparation and take down. We would also like to thank Old City Java and Underground Brewing Company for providing coffee and home brews to our guests. Lastly, a big thank you to all the business who donated foodstuff and silent auction items. Pesto Festo would not be successful with out the support from these individuals and businesses. Thank you!
