Pesto Festo Pesto Crawl

We’ve been telling you for months now we want the Tenth Annual Pesto Festo to be the biggest and best ever, and one way to make that happen is with a little help from one’s friends.

Slow Food Tennessee Valley is pleased to announce our first ever Pesto “Crawl”, a week-long celebration of pesto featuring some of Knoxville’s finest restaurants and food trucks. We gave the chefs at OliBea, Emilia, Oliver Royale, Tootsie Truck, and Wild Love Bakehouse free rein to make one dish using pesto and/or basil however they’d like, so stop in any time from Sept. 2nd-Sept. 9th to see what they came up with!

Why these restaurants and food trucks, you ask? Because they have all been awarded a SFTV Snail of Approval, which means they exemplify the principles of Slow Food: good, clean, and fair food for all. Snail of Approval businesses contribute to the quality, authenticity and sustainability of the food we eat; if you see a Snail (either in Knoxville or on your travels around the USA), you can count on getting local, seasonal, high quality food that has been crafted with care. To learn more about the Snail of Approval program, including how to nominate your favorite business, visit

Show your love for all things pesto and thank these businesses for supporting the 10th anniversary of Pesto Festo by participating in the first ever Pesto Crawl. And when you do, we’d love to see your pictures! Post them to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #PestoCrawl2017
